By Air

Nyaung Oo Airport in Bagan is accessible to land not only international flights by charter basic but also by daily regular domestic flights. There are flights to Bagan-Nyaung Oo Airport from Yangon or Mandalay. It takes one hour and ten minutes between Yangon and Bagan. From Nyaung Oo Airport(Bagan) – To city center

To:Nyaung Oo/Old Bagan: About 10-15 minutes’  drive from the airport by Taxi.                                            

To:New Bagan : About 15-20 minutes’  drive from the airport by Taxi. 

Taxi fare:

To Nyaung Oo   :around 6000-8000 kyats.

To Old Bagan    :around 7000-10000 kyats.

To New Bagan  : around 7000-10000 kyats.

Most middle and luxury class hotels arrange complementary pick-up services for their guests from the airport.

By Land

Visitors can use regular express coach services to Bagan from Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay are available offering many bus options to choose. In the same way you can leave for most of major cities including Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, and Inle lake by coach. In addition to that, there are frequent bus links from Mandalay to Bagan. All these following bus lines leave/arrive at New Bus Terminal.

Bus station : New Bus terminal

                     It takes about 01-15 minutes to the New Bus terminal by taxi or connected services by small coach. It's 7 Km's southeast from Nyaung U center.

By Train

An overnight train runs daily from Yangon, departing at about 4:00 pm and arriving in Bagan at 10:00 am the following day.

            There are direct train services running from Mandalay to Bagan with two departures daily. Tickets are available directly at the railway station and cost about US$6 one way. The journey takes about seven hours.

By Boat

Tourist boats as well as normal passenger boats ply between Mandalay and Old Bagan via Nyaung U. A daily "express" boat service leaving at 7 a.m. runs down the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) from Mandalay to Bagan taking 8-9 hours (approximately something like 20 miles per hour) while Bagan to Mandalay takes 10 hours.

If you are in no hurry, you can opt for a slow ferry which covers the same route frequently taking from 14-17 hours and costs US$10.
